I'm the founder of Makeshift Society, a coworking space and organization for creative freelancers, independent business owners and small teams. I am also Market Editor at Anthology Magazine and a consultant to independent makers, brands, stores and organizations. Sometimes, I talk about my far-flung interests in my newsletter Hardly Working. Previously, I operated Rare Device, a design-led store and art gallery, from 2005-2011, and conducted retail experiments with some friends. I've also been a business columnist for UPPERCASE Magazine, a jewelry designer, a wedding stationer, a web designer and a content management consultant. I live in San Francisco (land of $4 toast, erratic public transit and Karl the Fog) but I hail from Sacramento (land of muscle cars, 75-cent glazed old-fashioneds and fireworks).
